   Oh..oh..pick me...I know the answer to this one. He means there were no meat   
   eaters in that today's carnivores did not eat meat back then. They were all   
   primary consumers (herbivores). Certainly there were lions, tigers, wolves   
   etc - but they were all herbivores. I think the lions ate grass and the   
   tigers ate low-lying shrubs and bushes. The wolves ate a little of both.
