|    species someones in mythology and folklo    |

XPost: alt.folkore       From: dalton@nfld.com              Do you know of instances of species someones       or species spirits in mythology and folklore?              I have also asked about this on alt.native ,       where I posted the following paragraphs:              ---------------------------------------------              Do any of you believe in species spirits?              I define a species someone as the smallest in mass       someone that contains the species. I don't       say species spirit since the species someone       contains bodies. That is, the species someone       is like a collective consciousness of a species       except it also contains bodies, and even parts of       bodies (e.g. an eagle feather), and even any DNA.              I denote a species someone by a capital letter,       and for example Orca is one of my minor deities       and Human is one of my main deities.              I used to call species someones that I have       received a sign from totemic someones but       have switched to calling them SSOSOSS (species       someone of other species of significant sign).       Note that Orca, which I mention above, is       one of several SSOSOSS to me. I think that       makes me a tangent point between Orca and Human.              --       David Dalton dalton@nfld.com http://www.nfld.com/~dalton (home page)       http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/nf.html Newfoundland&Labrador Travel & Music       http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/dtales.html Salmon on the Thorns (mystic page)        "Here I go again...back into the flame" (Sarah McLachlan)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
