   In some forms of paganism The Great Rite is ritual sex between   
   a woman and a man.   
      
   Does anyone know of past instances when such sex has magically   
   caused great changes, such as even renewed crop fertility?   
   I suspect that some such may have been the first sex between   
   Krishna and Radha, or between Adonis and his main lover   
   (representative of Aphrodite?), or Finn and Oonagh, or other   
   well known religious lovers.   
      
   One place where such sex is depicted fictionally is that   
   between Morgaine and Arthur in Marion Zimmer Bradley's   
   book   The Mists of Avalon.
