   Hael Green Man!

"Brian Yach" posted to alt.satanism instance of green #1:
   # ...I have had a couple dreams. they happened probably about a month
   # and a half ago, probably two days apart. anyway, this was my dream.
   # I was with a friend, when I felt a presence enter my body. as the
   # presence entered my body, my eyes, nostrils and mouth would emit a
   # green radient light that actually looked cool. Anyway, as the green
   # light came out of my eyes, nostrils, and mouth, I was lifted up and
   # was floating around the room. Now, the second time I had that dream,
   # immediately a book come back to my rememberance that I read when I
   # was in the sixth grade in school. the name of the book was called
   # lavender green magic. about a family dealing in some form of witchcraft.

it is considered classic fiction as recommended by Gardnerians and
probably other types of witches/Neopagans. it's been bumped down
my reading list several times after I acquired a used copy for
review/citation. if you'd care to say more of its content, I'd
definitely appreciate that. few reviews of it I've seen did it
justice and my brief attempt to read it (Andre Norton, I think)
did not inspire me to further endurance (having giving up on that
author in earlier work long abandoned by the time I got to it).
   some day maybe.

you might be intrigued as regards the film "Big Trouble in Little
China" on account of the special effects used therein (or indeed
in some of the 'Aliens' films) where green light is used heavily.
the former mention actually has it coming out of the characters'
mouths and noses during magical transformations (esp. Lo Pan).

   # I don't remember much because I just read enough of the book
   # to get a passing grade on a book report.

darn, I'd hoped to hit on someone with greater familiarity. ;>
oh well, I cross-posted this to friendly environs it may be had.

   instance of green #2:
   # I have a game here too called kingdom hearts. when bad guys are
   # killed, [they] give off little orbs or money, strength and magic.
   # the magic orbs are green and the magic bar is green too.

modern -- traffic lights and currency in the US.

   # my question is this, Is green a prevelent color in the
   # witchcraft world? Wicca? other forms of witchcraft?

there's some good bit of focus on it in part because of its
prevalence in the *natural* world that forms part of the
worship of Neopagans. traditionally amongst Euro-Am mages
the colour green relates to Venus, Copper, septenaries,
and to the Heart-center, sometimes extended to beings
like Tara, and to emotions like love, compassion, etc.

Bonewits, who was one of the first Neopagans to attempt a
rational construction of rainbow-spectrum magical taxonomy,
   described Green magic this way:

Now almost obsolete in America, it was originally
the magic of agricultural fertility, and we are
no longer a rural nation. It includes, naturally,
the botanical sciences, fertility, and creativity,
beauty and art. I'm sure we all kow at least one
person with a "green thumb"; they are often
    unconscious practitioners of *Green Magic*.

"Real Magic: An Introductory Treatise on the Basic
Principles of Yellow Magic" (Revised Edition),
    by P.E.I.Bonewits, Weiser 1989; p. 132.
    ===================================================

I would also like to mention here that one of the personal
associations I've had with the colour green was that Kali
suggested that if I ever wanted to have a Witch's Cord
that She would prefer that I have one coloured green.

some of the popular *depictions* of witches (e.g. the ever-
popular Margaret Hamilton 'Wicked Witch of the West' in
"The Wizard of Oz") was green-skinned, and this may be
compared with the unpredictable 'Hulk' and the more recent
lovable monster Shreck whose identity has been mimicked
by Satanists that took on this as their last name).

   # what does the color green represent in the demonic world?
   # have you any idea?

there is actually a hefty symbolic association between
the Devil and the colour green, in part from which I came
to the inference that the Adversary is a natural being,
   misunderstood and possibly conjectoral-but-of-the-Creation
as interpreted by Religions of the Book who use the Bogey.

Iblis is said to be or be associated with emerald green,
and, along with the Oz-land associations, the association
of this colour with *envy* may have given some impetus here
on account of the projection that the Shaitan was envious
of the new construction of the divinity (that being Adam).

the Green Man features in BOTH Neopagan and Middle-Eastern
climes by different valence. amongst Jews and Muslims it
seems a folk story that some special being called 'Khidr',
or the Green Man instructed the culture-hero Mosheh/Moses
and demonstrated the imperative value of dwelling within
the knowledge of the divine in behaving according to Law.

amongst Neopagans the Green Man has a wild quality which
is both lascivious and ever-bountiful, possibly dangerous
to the wrong people so encountering (compare Pan). perhaps
others will explain their understanding in this thread.

   blessed beast!
