   I think you have your Biblical Chronology wrong. 6000 years is the   
   approximate age of the earth itself, according to the dating by Bishop   
   Ussher. He pegged the creation of the earth at 4004 BC. The flood happened   
   along about 1700 years later.   
      
   But geologically speaking, the difference between 4000 years ago and 6000   
   years ago is not all that great. We certainly have examined *lots* of areas   
   back a lot further than that. Why the annual depositions of ice on Greenland   
   have been dated back for over a hundred thousand years, IIRC. If there was a   
   flood between 4000 to 6000 years ago, then this should not have been   
   possible.   
      
   But it would help your case to seem more reasonable if your Biblical facts   
   were a tad more accurate.
