From: trap@necrotheque.demon.co.uk              Recently, a script from Matt Probert arrived, in which they said:              : Looking for information regarding aboriginal mythology from the       : continent of Africa. Preferably first hand accounts.       :       : Anyone familiar with any English language resources?              /Tales of an Ashanti Father/ by Peggy Appiah is very good: I can       testify that even with the tribal differences between the Ashante       stories and the Mamprusi ones, she's faithfully retold the       mythology in English.              The problem with the question your asking is scope. 'Aboriginal       mythology from Africa' is a *HUGE* scope, which technically       includes the entire body of kemetic and Egyptological mythology       as well as the Khufu and Sudanese, Ethiopian, Libyan, Bedou, Morrocan,       West African, Bantu, Masai, Bushman, coast and so on cultures. There's       some 5000 years of oral tradition in some 70 or 80 thousand cultural       groups and periods included here.              I suspect you mean 'black africa', ie. Sub-saharan, but even then, the       range of cultures, stories and mythological or theological diversity is       absolutely vast.              What exactly were you looking for?              ~R       --       Romauld - romauld at necrotheque dot dcu       "It is proof of a base and low mind for one to wish to think with the masses        or majority, merely because the majority is the majority.
