Is it because it provides an opportunity to knock the       Christian religion?              Gibson is an honest guy. He honestly portrayed the successful       conspiracy to murder Jesus by the priests of the Temple, and now       from what I've read, he honestly portrays the barbarism and       brutality of the Maya.
