You've bought into the whole "noble savage" propaganda bullshit
that has been used as an excuse to criticize European culture for
the past few centuries. It has *no* truth in it. Yes, there is
evidence for cannibalism right across the Americas -- look it up.
It was condoned and accepted in the American Indian cultures in
which it was practiced. By contrast, cannibalism has never been
condoned or officially practiced in the cultures of Europe since
at least Roman times. Yes, European cultures were more advanced,
more enlightened and more civilized than the cultures they
encountered in the Americas when the first explorers crossed the
Atlantic. Yes, our ancestors were better than the Indians. Better
   intellectually, better morally, better socially.
