we had to make the weapon as well, i started out with a 30-06 hunting
rifle ordered from the states, and then 2 years later a modified m14 for
about 6 months and then a barrett 50 cal. being a second lieutenant was
ok, but the higher up you went in rank the less you went into the field
in sog in the nam, retired as a ltcol when i was 58, wish i would have
made full bird, would have if i stayed in. ghillie suits are not that
hot, infact they will keep you cool in direct sun, and they keep bugs
off you, nothing worse than a mosquito biting you in nam. i had snakes
crawl over me and they never knew i was there. snakes are tasty don't ya
   know.
