XPost: alt.atheism, alt.politics, alt.politics.liberalism       XPost: alt.religion.christian       From: hlwdPastor@NOSPAMgmale.com              We must all remember the origins of the Thanksgiving holiday and how the First       Americans gave everything they had in order to make it a special day for the       rest of us. The Indians at the time said it best when they customarily       referred to the Pilgrims as        "proud, pure, and righteous", for that indeed they were.              It might have been because those Pilgrims introduced the Indians to Jesus       Christ. Before the arrival of those First Americans in 1620, the Indians were       primitive savages in war bonnets, worshipping Earth Gods and practicing       cannibalism. But after their        encounters with the First Americans, they had the opportunity of accepting       Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior!              Or it might have been because the Pilgrims came here in search of religious       freedom and so they founded a country based on such freedom that we today know       as the United States of America.              Whatever the reason, its now well documented that the First Americans took       pity on the ignorant savages, who were hiding behind trees with their       tomahawks, stalking the innocent Europeans, for those righteous Christian       Americans knew the Words of Jesus        and they are the Words of love and forgiveness.              The Thanksgiving holiday, then, is a perfect example Christian love, as it       took place in celebration of the Indians salvation, not just from the fires of       Hell, but from physical starvation and exposure to the elements. The Pilgrims       gave food to the        Indians and showed them how to grow corn, which the Pilgrims called maize.       When warm weather came, the colonists taught the Indians how to plant, fish,       hunt, and prepare themselves for the next winter. So after the Indians       harvested their first crop,        they and their Pilgrim friends celebrated the first Thanksgiving.              Ever since that Blessed Day of the First Thanksgiving, the Indians and       Americans have lived in peace (except during those times that the Indians       chose to torture and murder innocent Americans, but we wont go there now. Its       time to forgive, forget,        celebrate Thanksgiving and honor the First Americans).              So lets take some extra time out tomorrow to utter a special prayer of thanks       to God for those First Americans, the Pilgrims, who in 1620, gave us this       special holiday to remind us of how much we have to be thankful for.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
