   I can confirm this. Around 1970 my husband and I went to one of Sun Bear's   
   meetings about the tribe of hippies he was setting up. He presented himself as   
   a shaman. It became clear that this was not a "real" hippie commune or a real   
   shaman. He made it    
   clear he expected communal free love and every woman would be subject to his   
   visits when he felt like it. I told my husband we were not joining this scam.   
   Some good friends of ours did, and their son died in the commune from tainted   
   water. I remember    
   reading a quote from Sun Bear many years ago where he said he was ripping off   
   the white people's children, something like that. He fully admitted it. He was   
   creepy and turned my stomach, and I am sorry any of the clueless, stars in   
   their eyes young    
   hippies fell for his swill.
