I too know this is an old post. I know little of Native American traditions. I       met tino around the year 2000.at the soho wellness center in nyc . I was       invited to have a session w him by the owner. I was teaching yoga there at the       time . I had little        money and nobody asked for money. I told him at some point that I thought I       was in dire need of some type of healing or vision and I had heard of people       spending thousands of dollars to go on a vision quest out west which was out       of the question for me        barely supporting my disabled wife and 2 young children. Gino said only a       gift of tobacco was necessary. Come to Northern California to cal bring       tobacco. It took me more than a year to save up the plane fair. I called him       he said he would pick me up at        airport. I went and he picked me up in Oakland along with another man man who       flew in I gave him tobacco . We drove in his truck for over 5 hours I fasted       on a hillside for several days I spent over a week on. The land and driving       around in his truck. We        talked about things like respect kindness responsibility . My inner and outer       world opened up I wept . I came to understand and be eternally grateful for       the gifts that the plants and animals gave to me . Thank you squirrel turtle       snake and wasp. Thank        you river road rock and path. Thanx. I broke his land lie phone and answering       machine accideny I offered him a hundred dollars to fix it he accepted it .i       was being careless and impatient when I broke it. My bad glad to fix. I have       not seen nor spoken        to him in at least 15 years. I am still learning from his his ways of       teaching. If you meet him tell him of my gratitude.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
