|    Morel report - Madison County, IL    |
|    09 Apr 06 10:38:35    |
I found morels April 4,5,6 & 7th growing in my front yard. They were       little grey's. A total of 12 were picked.              We got a steady rain on Thursday afternoon. I'm thinking... we are       set to find the mother load!              Friday afternoon I cut 2 walking sticks and waited till 2:30pm. I       picked my grandson (8 yr old) up at school & we went hunting in a       large track of woods. The woods are a blend of mature cottonwoods,       elm, oak, hickory among others. How many bags did we find?              We got skunked! Not a single mushroom in 2.5 hours.              My dog did "tree" his first racoon on the trip. We had fun watching       that from a distance.              Friday & Saturday nights dropped from last week's 55 degree nights to       mid 30 degrees. Seems like that happens every year. As soom as we get       a growing routine started, along comes the cold snap. Oh well, I have       no doubt we will find plenty.              I have heard reports that they are finding them in Calhoun County       (Hardin, IL). Thing is, That is north of me & probably colder... Hmmm.              I will reply to this thread to update my season.              Good Luck!              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
