I live in an area (N Minnesota) that transitions from farmland to forest. I
find very few in the farming area.
Does anyone know how long it takes for a yellow morel (for
example--morchella esculenta) to establish itself on disturbed (plowed or
grazed) land. My father does have the right trees (spruce) growing on a
wildlife plot that have been there about 20 years. I find lots of boletes
(long needle pine also) and other varieties.
Will morels establish themselves in 20 years?
Some people tell me they will only grow in the 'old' forest.
