   We do have M. elata here too, but rarely found, because they prefer   
   calcareous soil which we don't have much around where I live.   
   I'm not so fond G. esculenta myself, but I know others who are, so we   
   can still have a great time finding, picking and preparing them to   
   give away. We have to wait until late summer before there are any   
   other edible mushrooms to find. Reading about everything you are   
   reporting from Oregon already - I'm the one who should be sad...
