   The first is a slime mold -- seen it many times. Has the consistency of   
   spit.   
   No idea what it name is.   
      
   The second is Gyromitra esculenta. If you had given a side view, it could   
   have been other Gyromitras as well. G. gigas is similar, but lighter   
   colored.
