|    Very Strange Fungi Encounter!    |
|    31 May 06 21:02:32    |
From: les.frontalclaire@lobesvirgin.net               Today, at work in a nursery (plants, not kids) in S.Kent, UK I came across       just about the strangest fungi I have ever seen! No digicam so I will have       to describe it. I have no idea what it is called. Here goes...              In the soil of a very large potted palm there was an almost geodesic, orange       structure. Roughly dome shaped, about 3"x3". Pencil thick, rubbery, orange,       foamlike mushroom made up the structure. Think small Buckminster Fuller       dome. Dark sticky foul smelling gloop coated the inside of it. The remains       of a white cowl around the base. There was another emerging in the pot. This       one was about the size of half a squash ball and completely enveloped in a       snowy white cowl.              Truly the most amazing fungus I have ever seen. Any ideas as to it's name so       I can research it a bit?              Les              --       Remove Frontal Lobes to reply direct.              http://armsofmorpheus.blogspot.com/              http://www.xenu.net/              http://www.venganza.org/index.htm              Les Hemmings a.a #2251 SA              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
