   You can find fungus in the corner of a damp closet......but   
   seriously........look for areas like a preserve (if your urban area has one)   
   or in the middle of a cluster of planted shrubs or trees.   
   You can find mushrooms that grow on lawns anytime in the fall season. Best   
   to go out a day or two after a rainfall. Just slowly poke around and   
   observe.   
   You are opening the door on a fascinating pasttime. Get a good field guide   
   and it will really clue you in on what to look for as far as habitat and   
   time of season.   
   I would like to see the look on your face the first time you look 20 ft up   
   a tree and see a huge white mushroom.
