   I make my own chigger repellent by mixing equal parts turpentine and   
   tea tree oil.  Then I add a chunk of solid camphor to this and let it   
   dissolve to saturation.  A spritz, (you can buy small spray bottles at   
   the drug store) on each side of each ankle, seems to keep the little   
   buggers uninterested in my feet, and if I do get a bite, somewhere, a   
   drop of this stuff covered with a band aid, stops the itching and   
   kills the bug, very quickly.
