   Go looking anyway. Some of my most surprising finds were in a 'too dry'   
   time.   
   Look in shaded, moist pockets and dig a little. Also places by rivers and   
   swamps might surprize you.   
   Trying to encourage you, but i know how you feel. We've had  rains here and   
   the variety and numbers are a treat.
