|    fusarium    |

From: norsgerm@a...........              We have a very common fungus called fusarium.       It can infect and reduce yield on grain crops(on bad infections the whole       crop is lost)       It is called 'scab' because the wheat kernals shrivel up and look 'scabby'       When enough moisture is on it's host such as wheat it is very visable by       it's pink color.       One reason (besides reduced yields) it is so undesirable is that it makes       livestock sick from upset stomachs (they can throw up) Also infected grains       can not be used for brewing(you can throw up)       After seeing it on a moist, otherwise healthy agaricus, I got to       thinking......maybe a lot of upset stomach is caused by a secondary fungus       such as fusarium on good edibles.       Fusarium builds up populations through the summer and it doesn't surprise me       now that it was on a moist mushroom in the grass.       Anyone else had expierience with fusarium? (I lost 1\2 of my wheat crop to       it in the early 90s)       Kurt              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
