From: norsgerm@a...........              Despite of some heavy frosts (it's snowing tonight) I had a pleasant       surprise two days ago.       My nieghbor knows I like mushroom hunting and keeps an eye out in his rural       yard.       He found a bunch of fried chicken mushrooms (L. decastes) and the spot where       I found a Shaggy parosol (liucocoprinus rachodes) last year produced about a       half dozen.       Last year they grew at the end of August, but this year he was in a dry area       that missed rains. The late rains this year and a couple warm days brought       them out.       The parosol was 'way past' last year and stunk in the heat. This year I just       missed it by a few days, but the cool weather preserved them. They (shaggy       parosals) should not be eaten.       The fried chicken mushrooms (half of them) that were not touched by frost       were in scrambled eggs this morning, and the rest were slowcooked with wild       goose giblets. The gizzards were so tender they could be cut with a       fork.(did the mushroom help tenderize them?)       After a few were eaten the rest (hearts, carrots, celery, onion) was blended       and I added milk and made a soup that was the best I ever had.              fried chicken, parosal.......       http://i11.tinypic.com/2vl8ffb.jpg       http://i11.tinypic.com/2rx86qf.jpg       Kurt              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
