   All Lactarius in section Deliciosi with orange, red, blood red or even blue   
   latex (milk) are edible. So, Lactarius paradoxus is also edible. But, not   
   found in Europe, only in North America.   
   I think that you rather came across on Lactarius sanguifluus or Lactarius   
   vinosus (by some authors synonym for L. sanguifluus)
