From: riburr@shentel.net              Made lunch today, the dish consisted of fried rice, seaweed and pickled       mushroom. I don't know Japanese cooking, but the dish had a Japanese       feel to it. Dried seaweed was fried with butter without being       rehydrated. The rice was added to the same skillet and fried with the       seaweed, and allowed to cool to room temperature. The mushrooms are       pickled sweet, and added cold to the rice. This was my 2nd serving, so       the dish is a little oily in the picture; See:       http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=516644810&size=l              Almost a totally vegetarian dish (except for the butter), the seaweed       and pickled mushrooms combined to give a seafood flavor overall. The       dried seaweed had a smoked fish flavor, and a chewy texture, but not       overly so. The pickled mushrooms had an almost sushi texture, with a       sweet, tangy flavor.              --       ...Life is just a game,       Fly your paper plane,       There is no end...              -Thunderclap Newman              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
