Well, this is a start.              Went into the forest to check locations that are usually fruitful.       Nothing as of Saturday morning, but it's only been a couple days since       the rain began. Today is sunny, cool and breezy. High temperatures in       the mid-60s, lows in the low-40s. No frosts or freezes yet.              The leaves are falling. There's a good carpet of leaves on the forest       floor. I imagine these flood the topsoil with tannins (acidic?) in       rainy periods. The forest smells rich with tannins. Besides being       acidic, tannins bind with proteins. I wonder if there is an affect on       mycelium? The leaves themselves form a blanket over the soil, helping       the soil retain moisture for longer periods.              --       I can tell your future just look what's in your hand...              - Robert Hunter              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
