   This is a project where I will try to identify all the mushrooms I find   
   in my yard during 2008.  The yard is 6 wooded acres adjacent to the   
   George Washington National Forest in Virginia.  The project is inaugurated.   
      
   Date: 04/05/08   
   Mushroom (fungus):Apiosporina morbosa, Black Knot, heavily infecting the   
   branches of a wild black cherry tree.

   I tried to manually focus the camera and get a shallow depth of field in   
   an attempt to show the infected tree in silhouette.  Fudged the focus.   
   Didn't have my reading glasses.  Couldn't clearly see the camera LCD to   
   judge focus.  : (   
      
   None of my field guides identified this fungus.  I did a Google image   
   search to find it.
