   I see you mentioned me, but I still feel the need to apologize for not   
   participating more frequently in forum discussion.  Been more than a   
   little busy with work and doing chores around the house.   
      
   Mushrooming is tied for 1st among several of my favorite hobbies,   
   including kayaking on the local rivers which I haven't had the time to   
   do yet this year.  I know I could pick bagfuls of Polyporus squamous   
   right now by trolling the riverbanks in the kayak.  I've pickled it   
   before, but it became rather soft and mushy.  Next, I will try poaching   
   and marinating to try to preserve some of the texture.   
      
   I believe a "best method" exists for preparing any edible mushroom.  I   
   think P. squamous has great potential, but I'm still trying different   
   methods....
