Did you eat just one? Was it       fresh? Are you 100% on the id? (If you mistook it as a Psilocybe or       Gymnopilus, then your id necessarily isn't 100% as to G. autumnalis,       either, unless id was made as part of a poison assessment in a medical       treatment.) Was this the case? How did it taste? How do you know       you're liver was "nicked?" Was your liver tested?              Actual cases of mushroom poisoning are very rarely discussed in this       forum. Personally, I had the "runs" from eating Armillaria mellea; only       a single, brief incident. (I barbecued it wrapped in foil with other       vegetables, which retained all the juice, which I ate.) I eat it       frequently and have only had a "problem" once. I was put through the       psychological wringer by Gymnopilus junonius, which can be expected from       "magic" mushrooms, and was not beyond my ability to handle.              I was hospitalized when I was 2 years old after eating mushrooms in the       backyard. I have a vivid memory of being in hospital (*the 1st visual       memory in my life*). I remember trying to get to a chrome faucet I       could see in the bathroom from my crib. I was *very* thirsty, which       might have been a result of the treatment administered (atropine?). The       nurse came in, scolded me, and put me back into my crib.              The only other "chance" I take with mushrooms is eating blushers,       Amanita rubescens. The local variety is big, meaty and tasty. But, I       eat them very sparingly, and only after thorough cooking.              --       I can tell your future just look what's in your hand...              - Robert Hunter              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
