   Likewise. The vast majority of wild mushrooms I've eaten were home to   
   some kind of wiggling creature. It's a little disturbing to see them   
   dancing on the circular dance floor, as I slice a fresh mushroom on a   
   plate. (And, don't tell your dinner guests about them.) They cook up   
   fine, and are unnoticeable in the finished dish.   
      
   I don't usually wash my mushrooms. Instead, use care when picking to   
   avoid getting any dirt in the basket. Use a knife to cleanly cut the   
   mushroom from the ground, and trim away any dirt or bruises.
