   Also from Arora, describing Tremella foliacea, "flabby or gelatinous   
   when moist, bone-hard when dry."  Maybe you could try soaking or boiling   
   it for a while?  Although in my experience, Tremella dries to almost   
   nothing.  Doesn't smell like pine sap, does it?
