|    ID Request, What Hygrocybe is This?    |

From: riburr@shentel.net              Things are very dry in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Despite the       dryness, I found Gymnopilus, Armillaria, Lycoperdon, and a Hygrocybe       growing next to a spring. The first 3 are able to obtain moisture from       dead tree trunks wicking moisture from a deeper ground strata, or from       moisture still bound up in fallen trees. The Hygrocybe was growing next        to a spring, one of the few flowing water sources away from the       streams, which are running pretty low. Any guesses on what the       Hygrocybe is (H. appalachianensis?)?
