   Lose the stem?  Although I find these quite a lot, I never tried them.  There   
   always seem to be something more desirable close by.  We're dry as a bone in   
   the   
   mountains where I live, so I don't even try to find mushrooms now.  I will try   
   S. americanus when I find them next.
