   Caroline Furnace was an iron furnace built and operated in the 1800s.  This and   
   two other nearby furnaces were named after the three daughters of the owner of   
   the furnaces.  The other two furnaces were Elizabeth and Isabella.  The   
   furnaces   
   were destroyed as a result of the American Civil War.  The remains of Caroline   
   Furnace are very close to my home, and the Lutheran Church now runs a rural   
   retreat on the grounds where the furnace once stood.  I find very beautiful   
   cobalt blue slag glass in the area,  I also find Amanita muscaria in the area,   
   but the land is owned by the church.
