|    Wild propagation of Agaricus subrufescen    |

From: riburr@shentel.net              I find Agaricus subrufescens reliably but sparingly growing in my back       yard. The almond aroma of this mushroom is heavenly, reminding me of       almond-flavored biscotti. There are a few popping up now in the grass       thatch.              I took a whole, mature mushroom, put it in a large measuring cup with a       little bit of water, and mashed it using a fork. After the mushroom was       suitably mashed I filled the cup with water and mixed in a little fish       emulsion. I dribbled the solution into the open areas of the backyard       containing adequate thatch. Will continue the procedure as more       mushrooms appear. Will report later if the mushroom population shows       any increase.              If we don't get adequate rain in the next couple weeks I may have to       break out the lawn sprinkler.              When I used to work at a winery, we used a flail mower to mow the       vineyard. This would flail the grass down and into the dirt, and leave       a dirt/grass mulch on the surface. Agaricus campestris would grow all       over the place where we used that mower. Use to pick bags of the stuff.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
