From: riburr@shentel.net              Went looking for morels in earnest today. Saw lots of people in the       forest looking, but no one found anything. Or, at least they didn't       admit to finding anything. New foliage is still pretty sparse. Just       swollen buds and small, immature leaves, which allows you to look pretty       deep into the forest. When I say nothing, I mean *nothing*. Even the       ever present small polypores were scarce.              I'm trying to find new "honey holes" apart from the spots where the       crowds gather. Hope to continue searching new locations before the       foliage really gets thick. Also hoping for some rain, everything seems       a little drier than optimal.              Here's a picture of a low area, near a stream. Mixed hardwoods here,       oak, poplar, ash, but you can see the foliage is still very immature; See:       http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8659635310_806f211c20_c.jpg              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
