As long as you can recognise a Cortinarius when you see it, there's       not a lot else it could be said to resemble - and of the two I can think       of, they're listed as 'edibility unknown'              You could easily mistake a small L. nuda for L sordida, or a large L.       sordida for a small L. nuda, but as L. sordida is as edible as L. nuda       (and the flavour is much the same)              Just don't eat Lepistae raw. They are not *very* poisonous, though they       haemolise blood.              > Saw a couple       > of late Amanita muscaria last week (with Chalciporus piperatus).              Never heard of Chalciporus. Same as Lactarius?              > That will       > probably be the last of them for the year. Was maybe going to go out today       > but probably not wise with 90mph+ winds. More of my trees blown down :(              It is *said* that A.Muscaria is edible if peeled. Since they are bitter,       I'd sooner try Tylopilus felleus, which is bitter but harmless.              I'll put (pics of!) jars up on my website when they are presentable.              --       Rusty Hinge       To err is human. To really foul things up requires a computer and the BOFH.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
