|    On clearing and burning    |

From: riburr@shentel.net              I'm rather impressed with the numbers of mushrooms I'm finding in areas       of the yard cleared and burned. Numbers and varieties have increased       from my experience before beginning to clear. This may be due to their       being more visible absent a thick layer of leaves. But, the difference       is dramatic as far as I can tell.              Also, absent a layer of leaves which would obviously limit the spreading       of spores, I'm wonder if spores will disperse over a wider range? And,       what of effects on spore viability if the blanket of heavy, damp leaves       is removed?              Overall, I am inclined to continue the clearing based on what I'm seeing.                     --       Ruralpsychedelia:       http://ruralpsychedelia.blogspot.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
