It unfortunately didn't work for me, but my       problem       is the other way around (mailto: links in web pages open Outlook instead of       Netscape), but if you're using XP, try Doug's suggestion: Try using "Set       Program       Access and Defaults" in Windows' "Add or Remove Programs." There are three       choices: MS only (which sets your default browser, mail program, media player,       etc.) to MS's offerings, Non-MS, which sets everything to a non-MS offering       where one is available, and Custom, where you can pick what you want for each       one.
