Use Thunderbird for mail. Its based on the same root as Netscape 7 (Mozilla)
You can use Firebird to get Netscape web mail (with an extension) or get
it in Thunderbird (with an extension)

AOL didnt maintain Netscape 7, they let it waste away while the base
   product (Mozilla) improved
Netscape 8 isnt a replacement for Netscape 7, it isnt even in the same
   league, its a browser only.
