Netscape 8 is intended as a replacement/alternative for AOL's current IE
based browser. If you are not using the AOL system, it would be of
greater benefit to use Firefox and Thunderbird.

Netscape 8 is simply Firefox with AOL enhancements to work on the AOL
system. It doesnt do email (tho it does do webmail of course). You would
need Thunderbird (or another mail application) to complete the product
to the equivelent of Netscape 7 (which is a 'suite' application
   including browser email/news and more)

Dont check the Helper applications, check the plug ins!

type about:plugins into the location bar in Netscape 8
