That is not correct. Recent reports have the percentages somewhere in the
   range
of 80-90% for IE (depends who's doing the counting, and how/what they count).
   I
don't believe that IE EVER reached 99%. Suggest that they/you take the trouble
to web search "browser share percent 2005".

If they had actually investigated the numbers and gotten development cost
estimates and found that developing a browser neutral site is not cost
competitive, their statement might be true. If they had done that sort of
research, they would be quoting more accurate figures on IE usage. If, for
example, they had said "over 90% of people now use IE", they I would believe
that they had done at least minimal research. Given their statement, however,
   I
doubt it. Since they choose to define "does not contain the latest IE
proprietary enhancement" as "outdated", then that would be their choice.
Personally, mine would be to not to business with them.

   No

eWeek.com - January 2005 "In the past month, use of Microsoft Corp.'s dominant
browser fell another 1.5 percentage points to 90.3 percent."

Web Side Story - May 10, 2005 - US usage Internet Explorer 88.86%, Germany
   69.45%, Japan 93.92%

Information Week - May 10, 2005 - "Internet Explorer, meanwhile, fell to 88.8
percent in April from 89.8 in February."

I'm sure your browser works, however, so I'll let you continue the fun. 99% is
   pretty much imaginary.
