   But, if you delete messages the message really isn't deleted.  Its   
   deleted from the folder, yes, but not from the file itself.  This is a   
   backup for those who accidently delete things.  You can go into the   
   file and look for the message.  To get rid of these left overs,   
   compact your folders once in a while.  File, Compact, and this will   
   make the actual files a lot smaller.  This also applies to messages   
   you move around, too.
