     Interesting question... I have never seen anything about that.  I   
   would guess that it would be limited only by the amount of hard drive   
   space available...  however, indexing a 500MB fiels would probably cause   
   you to gnash your teeth every time you opened your inbox.  :)   
      
     Mine is currently sitting at about 18megs with no issues.
