What I do to 'archive' messages
I move all the messages I want to archive to a folder with a unique
name. Then I quit Mozilla, go into the profile and remove the file with
that name and store it outside of the program. I leave the .msf
and .sbd (if it exists) in the profile.

If I want to access the folder again, I simply take it and drop it into
the profile, the index will be updated at that time

I suggest using a name for the folder with a date, or a month/year in
the name so you can avoid duplication

   Its simple but it works.
