|    Removing Netscape 8    |
|    11 Jan 06 15:54:51    |
From: Not@home              I want to remove Netscape 8 and retain Netscape 7.2. I have Windowsxp       home. I have an icon for each version on my desktop, and each works.              When I go into explorer, I find a folder for Netscape 7.1, which appears       to contain Netscape 7.2 and an uninstall program.              There is another folder named Netscape, which appears to contain       Netscape 8 and an uninstall program.              When I use the add/remove feature of the control panel, I find Netscape       7.1 with apparently nothing in it (no size is shown).              Below that is Netscape 7.2 which contains data.              Below that is Netscape Browser, which contains data appearing to be       Netscape 8.              It appears my choice is between using the uninstall program in the       netscape folder via explorer, or zapping netscape browser via program       removal on the control panel.              Are these equally safe, or is one method safer. What scares me is that       I have spent a lot of time recovering my profiles after Windows       truncated a file, and when I look around in explorer I find multiple       profile files, some in the netscape folders, but some in Documents and       Settings, not to mention the copy I put on my E drive.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
