   it took me a while to figure out what you're talking about -- "a   
   flower type look" -- but I think I have.  You have three panes.  One   
   is the account pane, where a list of the accounts appear.  The other   
   is the message pane, where the message appears.  And the other is the   
   header pane, where you see subject, date, sender, etc.  It sounds like   
   you're missing a column.  Am I right in that assumption?  If so, then   
   in that pane, look at the far right column, and you will see an odd   
   looking icon, looks like a bent arrow and its right above the scroll   
   bar.  Click on that icon and select Read.
