   the *.msf files are only index files.  They tell the program which way   
   the columns should be sorted, which are labeled, flagged, etc.  They   
   do not contain any mail.  When you renamed it, did you do so with the   
   program closed?  Try deleting the *.msf file with the program closed.   
     Any changes? Also, check under View, Messages, All.  Does that make   
   any differences?
