XPost: netscape.communicator       From: aftmid@tpg.com.au              I posted a piece a week or so ago about the time it took a file to appear in my       Download folder when I clicked on a link in a page AND that only 2 d'loads       appeared to work at once.        I had one suggestion about this - but it wasnt the answer.              The problem turned out to be - and this may apply to other browsers and       versions       - is the Download manager had 3.8Mby of files stored in its RDL file - I looked       through the down load manager list and stuff had been stored in there - related       to my download activity - ever since the browser was installed - probably       getting on for a year ago!        I suspect Netscape Communicator 4.8 does not have this d'load list feature       and hence its d'load and writing to disk always works very quickly.        Since deleting that RDL file in my profile area - NN7.2 now behaves the same       way - something to look out for if things start slowing up - as they have done       with my browser over the last few months!!              Cheers       all              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
