   A. By any chance, would that series of numbers be "127.0.0.1" ?   
      
   B. Are you running a virus scanner?   
      
   The email scanning portion of virus scanner programs may   
   reconfigure Netscape to fetch email through the virus   
   scanner (and not directly from the server), so that the   
   email can be scanned as it is downloaded.
