|    SeaMonkey installation problem    |

From: raykosXXX@optonline.net              I've been using SM for about six weeks with no problems. Today, when I       clicked on the quick launch icon, without my permission SM downloaded a       copy of itself into my computer, v1.1.1. (I don't know if this version       is different from the previous one of Feb 12.)              As as result, I had to do a new reinstall, including entering all my       preferences (default home page, names of news and mail servers, my       personal data, etc.). All my bookmarks remained available, but my saved       mail (contents of inbox, sent, drafts, unsent, etc.) is lost; that is,       these folders now are empty.              The new installation reused the old .slt folder. The Mail subfolder of       .slt contains two subfolders - mail.optonline.net and       mail.optonline-1.net. Apparently during reinstallation, SM didn't reuse       the mail.optonline.net folder but created a new one and added the -1 at       the end. With the browser and the mail program closed, I copied the       contents of mail.optonline.net to mail.optonline-1.net, hoping that the       new installation would now contain my old mail. It doesn't. I looked in       the pref.js and pref-1.js files for a clue, but couldn't find anything       obvious. I appreciate any help you can give.              The next problem is transferring the list of subscribed newsgroups to       the new installation. I've copied everything in news.optonline.net to       news.optonline-1.net, but when I launch the newsgroups, I don't any of       the subscribed ones. Thanks also for your help here.              Ray              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
